Chapter of the Month

Congratulations to Screven County High!

The Screven County High School chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is proud to announce that their chapter affiliated 83 members by August 20th. The officers attributed their success to two membership drives. The first membership drive was held in May before students went home for the summer. Borrowing the Subway tune, the officers changed the words and sang “Ten Dollars, Ten Dollars, Ten Dollars…..Twenty Tennnnnnnnn” over the intercom (yes, we did!) and in class as often as possible! Students took advantage of the special ten dollar membership deal for the 2009-2010 school year.
On the first day of school, SCHS FCCLA had twenty-five members from the May membership drive. The officers were ready to begin their next membership campaign, “Dew the Two”. One of the goals of the executive council was to encourage diversity in our local chapter; therefore, the “Dew the Two” membership campaign was launched. Two students who were different in an obvious way (boy and girl, freshman and junior, tall and short, blonde hair and black hair) could join (for $15.00 each), receive a Mountain Dew, and have their names placed in a raffle. The two winners of the raffle will receive FCCLA backpacks.
Officers are secretly planning a “$12.00 on the 12th” campaign during October. Students may join FCCLA for $12.00 on October 12. We are going to announce the “12 on the 12th” one week before October 12th. But please keep that a secret… we hope SCHS students take advantage of the great FCCLA opportunities by being an affiliated member as quickly as possible!
