Westover High Students Volunteer in 5th Annual Snickers Marathon Energy Bar Marathon

Students from Westover High School FCCLA had the opportunity to volunteer as Road Marshalls in the recent Snicker Marathon Energy Bar Marathon during this year's Mardi Gras. On March 5, the students were stationed an intersection along Westgate Avenue. Their task was to provide assistance and give directions to the racers. They ensured that the racers were following the correct route and were not endangered by traffic. Students provided much encouragement for the runners, cheering them on as they passed each intersection. To their delight several of the participants, in turn, expressed appreciation for the encouragement.

FCCLA students are encouraged to volunteer as this helps in the development of excellent work ethics. Advisor Lorraine Montague coordinated the volunteering effort and was assisted by parents Ms. Dunson, Ms. Alligood and Ms. Rachel. The students enjoyed the experience and have expressed a desire to make it an annual event.
