Packing Food Boxes for Perry Volunteer Outreach

What can 8 FCCLA members, 3 FCCLA alumni and 2 FCCLA advisors do in 2 hours? Pack 503 boxes of food for local families in need. Perry High FCCLA joined hands with Perry Volunteer Outreach to help pack boxes of food for families in the local central Georgia area.

These boxes included items such as flour, sugar, grits, canned vegetables, cake mix, oil, juice, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and rice. Perry High School collected the macaroni and cheese that was donated. Perry High FCCLA encouraged the entire school to participate in this macaroni and cheese drive. A total of 1,521 boxes of macaroni and cheese were collected for this cause.

Perry High School FCCLA members voluntarily took time out of their day to help someone else in need. When asked why they chose to participate most students said that they simply enjoy helping others while other members said they enjoy helping pack the boxes each year and that it is fun. The Perry volunteer outreach sponsor Larry Wood was very impressed with the motivation of these students. He was quoted as saying " I never heard anyone say that they couldn't do it; you all just jumped right in and got started" Perry High FCCLA is truly blessed with students who have such a wonderful spirit of giving.

Party for a Cause

Perry High FCCLA officers gathered and conducted leadership activities along with Northside, Veterans and Houston County High FCCLA members during this year's Party for a Cause held at Thomson Middle School. Thomson, Perry, Mossy Creek, Bonaire and Feagin Mill Middle school students participated in the leadership activities conducted by the high school FCCLA members. The high school FCCLA members served as excellent leaders and role models to the many middle school students in attendance, all while building their own leadership skills and boosting their confidence levels. A great time was had by all who attended this party while also collecting monetary donations for Jay's Hope and 236 pairs of shoes for Soles for Souls! A special shout out to Leigh Cape the FCCLA advisor at Thomson Middle School for organizing such a successful event.

Perry High FCCLA attends the Georgia FCCLA Fall Leadership Rally

Over 50 Perry High FCCLA members recently attended the Fall Leadership Rally at the Georgia National Fairgrounds. These students were introduced to the Georgia FCCLA State Officers and Leadership Board Members. The Keynote Speaker for the Rally was Kent Julian. His message "Live it Forward, Helping you Make the Move to the Life and Work you Love" was energetic, engaging and informative. Mr. Julian has a unique perspective on why so many people lack the clarity and passion needed to find true success and significance. This led him to develop the REAL™ Success principles that he strives to live personally and now teaches through Live It Forward. After the Rally the students enjoyed the Midway Rides, the Georgia National Fair competitions as well as indulging in Fair Food. A good time was had by all!!
